More readings, with Quentin and Angelique, new dramas (a four part epic, yet), more readings with a new actor (who? who? who?).

Great news to start the day, I can tell you. :-)

Is there? (Quickly opens a new tab to check the news ... oh yes!) Perfect!

I'll definitely be looking forward to the full cast audios. Something about the readings didn't really work for me. I enjoyed them, but haven't found myself going back to them to re-listen.

I'm guessing the new actor will be Nancy Barrett. Mr. Rainey announced on his website publication news about his novel, The Labyrinth of Souls. He'd originially written the book for Harper Collins, before the DS series was cancelled. He later distributed it as a PDF file on the net. I'm betting that it's going to be the next two dramtatic readings. They'd be perfect for Barrett and Selby. They are the two main characters in the novel. Again this is only speculation; I have no inside info.

Working with Nancy Barrett in the future is something that BF have flagged.

Of course, Nancy recorded a line for BF in the past, and the news says the returning actor has never worked with Big Finish before. I suspect I'm being too pedantic, but its nice to think there are other doors that could unexpectedly open...

I wasn't sure if the cameo counted. Was she credited on the CD?

Nope. I just looked at the page about it and Nancy Barrett is not on the cast list. Then again, remembering all the people from Return to Collinwood (those most likely to be willing to do the Big Finish thing), there are a number of DS actors who could return for the recording.

She's not credited in the cast. But check the 'Thanks to' bit, inside the insert...

Well, I'm hoping it's Nancy Barrett, but if the announcement should come that it's not, I'm still excited about everything that's coming.

Nancy Barrett would be great, though there is a danger that by not announcing the actor/actress now and billing them as 'new to the range' does leave the door open for an anti-climax. I've been hoping and praying that BF could get Jonathan Frid to do something - he's attended a few Festivals recently after many years on the sidelines and so is perhaps more approachable now than a few years ago - and dramatic readings are very much his forte.

Sorry, let me nip this one in the bud... it's not Jonathan Frid. One day, maybe we'll make that happen, but not right now.

The Path of Fate has one outstanding cover. Best in the range so far, by a long way. Great work, Stuart. Drool

Anyway, with news of these 2 new dramatic readings, I've just parted with my £45 for the lot.

I am so excited to finally get news on the new audios. I am really looking forward to all of them.
The two Angelique and Quentin audiobooks sound really exciting. Those two are really dynamic togather.
I am dying to find out who the narrarator is for the 5th and 6th audiobooks. Nancy Barrett is an obvious and welcome choice, but I'm not sure if her cameo with BF disqualifies her from the clues. Either way I hope Nancy Barrett is a regular cast member for season 2.
I'd love it if Alexandra Moltke did a couple as Vicki, her story really deserves some closure with her identity and final fate.
I'd also love to get audiobooks from Diana Millay aka Laura the Phoenix. A story from her point of view would be really interesting.

I agree - it's about time Alexandra Moltke as Victoria Winters was given the closure she deserves.

However, I'd wet my pants if Ben Cross and Joanna Going did one based on the 1991 remake.

It would be nice to see Frid do a couple, but I'm guessing it would have to be a one man show. Am I the only one to prefer it if he played a different character, perhaps Bramwell Collins? That character is underrated IMHO. He IS the son of
mirror universe Barnabas and Josette
after all.

With all due respect, finding out that it's Nancy Barrett could not possibly be an anti-climax. From my POV, it will be a little bit of a letdown if it's anybody else, though I would still be very excited.

Maybe they're finally going to use Jerry Lacy.

Oh do we have a release date yet?
As in an actual date in November because we are rapidly running out of days in November! And I'm desperate to get my hands on more Dark Shadows.

My copy of The Skin Walkers arrived this morning. Unexpected but very good. It isn't even on my download list yet.

After a quick listen to the first chapter, sound design is wonderful. If this is what BF can give to period DS, I want more set back in time. :-D
