I was recently going to order several CDs via the website and noticed that when I go to check out, the prices are shown in British Pounds instead of Dollars. I sent an e-mail to Big Finish and so far they have not answered.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me.
Thanks,

Thanks, I'm going by memory, but I think the BF website shows you the money in whichever form you prefer, but the ecommerce company (that does the actual transaction) always shows it in GBP. They still manage to take the dollars from my credit card okay, though. :-)

Thanks, Rupert1960h, The reason is because we are a British company and we always bill in our base currency of GBP. We convert to come currencies on the site. However, we always convert back to GBP to charge. I hope this helps, Paul

Thank you both for the information. I realize the website has a Pounds/Dollars button but even so, the order shows in Pounds. So, I assume my credit card will be billed in dollars?

I was billed in American dollars. I think the only thing is if your credit/debit company charges a fee for the currency exchange. I buy using my bank's debit card as they don't charge such a fee. :D

Are you going to use PayPal for charging at anytime in the future?

They had said before that PayPal is too cost prohibitive to use.

Paul So does that mean that the $ value that is listed on the site is going to just be an approximation of what our credit card will be charged after currency exchange but before exchange fees?

The price of ordering the CDs have certainly gone down in US dollars. I wished I had waited to order now because I'd save four-five dollars than when I had ordered last month.

You in the US, your prices do seem to go up and down quite frequently don't they?

I am definitely confused by the dollar/pound conversion on the site. Just what rate of exchange is being used on the site and what does it cover?
For example for an 8th Doctor subscription it is $63.72+$7.97 or #40. This would be an exchange rate of 1.593 if just the base is being converted or 1.79 if the shipping is included.
The 12 show download subscription is $150 or #115 and the 6 shows subscription is $75 or #60 which would be exchange rates of 1.3 and 1.25 respectively, but maybe there is a US discount to encourage getting legal downloads?
The 6 show CD subscription is $111.54 + $14.34 or #70 and the 12 show CD subscription is $223.07 + $28.68 or #140. These would have a 1.593 exchange rate on the base or 1.79 if shipping is included.
My guess is that the 1.593 rate is being used for the CDs plus that rate on an extra shipping charge (of #9 or #18 on 6 or 12 CDs) that is added on. If that is the case then I would guess for a 12 CD subscription to the US we are charged #140 + #18 = #158 and then that is converted + extra fees by our credit card company. Can someone who recently ordered or some representative verify this? I have no idea what is really being charged for the downloads.

The downloads if you switched between the websites are the same number. If the story is eight pounds, then it's eight dollars, fifteen pounds is then fifteen dollars, and so forth.

Oh, that's not right, if you can get it for cheaper than us.

I've posted in everything, but I forget what I've said. I've probably got two posts in different threads that are exactly the same.

The point was that you didn't read the thread.
