I really enjoyed this story and hope that we have many more 6 and Charley storioes ahead. However, whilst I do see your point, I think 6 is more clever than you suggest. The Doc has already worked out she's not being straight with him in Condemned - his line at the end of the story where he stops calling her Charley (as a trusted friend)and returns to referring to her more formally as Charlotte (however short lived)highlights that he knows all is not as it should. Whilst he doesn't know what's behind it all, IMO he's letting events play out.

I am more than thrilled that Charley's adventures are far from over , but when exactly did she team up with the 6th Doctor? I know she was picked up by a TARDIS at the end of "The Girl Who Wasn't There", and that she said "Oh, I was expecting someone else." I had a feeling that might have been 5th or 6th, but what was the first adventure for the two of them?

The Condemned, which was out in February, was their first adventure.

Yes, definitely check out The Condemned. I thought it was one of the better stories I've listened to lately. It's like The Doctor lands in the middle of a police procedural. That sounds as though it could be horrible but it actually is very cool and proves that that more than just the 7th Doctor works in the more "real world" settings. Plus you'll want to catch up with the wonderful DI Menzies who I keep hoping might join the Doctor and Charley in the TARDIS some day.

I must be the only person who didn't like The Condemned.

I'm sure you are right. Perhaps this is part of the 'reformed' 6th Doctor's Character. Ninth and BeyondA very friendly Doctor Who forum

I'd go so far as too say that 6th has already worked out that Charley has traveled with some version of himself before. I'm sure he wants to know what is going on but is just letting things play out naturally. I'm sure the fact that he seems to genuinely enjoy her presence helps that.

Thank you for the review and also your delightful comments on my music for this adventure. I really enjoyed working on 'Doomwood' and Barnaby is a great director to be working with. Although if I ever have to record another horse any time soon I may go mad and do something wacky!

The next story I'll be working on with Martin is called Doctor Who: Planet Of Horses...
Please note that the views expressed by Barnaby are his own opinions and do not reflect official Big Finish policy. They may also be daft.

Great performances. Colin and India are great together. Unfortunately they are together very briefly... again.
This story didn't hold my interest, but most Raynor stories don't.

I didn't like it at all.
The acting is great there's nothing wrong with that it's the business of having Charlie team up with the sixth Doctor, this situation has damaged the enjoyment that I have always had for new Colin Baker stories. They were the ones that I looked forward to the most but no longer, unless the story is with one of his 'proper' companions. I have to buy them as I want the full set that I have to continue but I just feel as though it's the biggest mistake Big Finish have ever made.
Oh well!!!

Really enjoyed it! I always look forward to historical stoies and I think they work best with the 6th Doctor. My only gripe is that we didn't get to hear "For The Glory of The Grel" chant, I found it hillarous whilst listening to the Benny audios!

I haven't listened to this yet, still waiting for the CD to arrive. Looking forward to it. I've always loved historicals.

Didn't care for this much. I found it overly complicated, convoluted and frankly mostly humorless. It seemed to try to play it both ways: as a historical with **** Turpin as a hero and as a historical with **** Turpin as a villain and in that sense, it succeeded. In not making a choice. I tend to think the plot was okay and had some possibility but I don't think the script reall conveyed it all that well. I found it pretty much a cop out story ending and frankly a bit too over the top. Ah well that is just me. I did enjoy it while listening though. Charley was a bit too over the top and ...the acting...wasn't that good unlike most of Baker and Charley's tales.

Fact: This is another mixed realities story Additional fact: It is not very complex Good fact: The Grel are very interesting and work in this. Bad fact: They don't appear very much Conclusion: These are all facts.
