With the release of "Wall of Darkness", season 3 will be coming to a close on my favorite season of Sapphire & Steel so far. I am praying there will be a season 4.
I didn't even start buying Sapphire & Steel until shortly before Season 3 was due to start, but now I am a huge fan.
I think it takes time for a line to develop a larger fanbase, so I hope this line is able to continue!

I guess all good things have to come to an end at some point but one would hope that 'Wall of Darkness' is not their final assignment.

Paul, what a tease! But news is good, either way. (I'd rather know than just wonder.) Thanks for the announcement announcement.

Oh, man, I SO hope Paul's cryptic tease means there will be another season. I love Sapphire and Steel, both TV and audio versions. I've been ignoring Wall of Darkness because I can't take yet a third "and everyone's trapped in another dimension" ending to the series. This is such stupendous sci-fi; I need MORE.

Well Paul says in the other BF forum page that it has not been cancelled. I just hope that series 4 will be full cast audio drama and not readings like the companion chronicles.

I really hope there will be a 4th series since the quality level and stories have always been consistent.

I'm delighted to hear that Sapphire and Steel is continuing, but despite owning the whole lot released so far, I've only got round to listening to the first two stories of Series 1 and listened to the first half of All Fall Down yesterday. I really, seriously, must catch up. (And I'm enjoying All Fall Down immensely, by the way!)

Hi folks - I'd just like to add my support for a fourth season. The third has been the best to date IMO. After a slightly lukewarm second season, I really have enjoyed these latest releases - "Second Sight" was innovative, "Remember Me" was both intelligent and well-written, and "Zero" is probably my favourite S&S story from BF to date. The slow burning battle with the...er, what they called? ...Transients(?) is extremely promising, and I'm hoping for a big showdown at some point.
So yes, let's have Fourth season, please....
Cheers------------JohnH

I've loved all three seasons and I'm of the firm opinion this is the best range BF do after Doctor Who. I know it's had a bit of a tortured history but it will be a dark day if it doesn't continue. I wouldn't be particularly impressed if it goes to a CC style release. That's fine for DW as an add-on to the main range but if that was all we got for DW I don't think it would be as successful. Please let us have a proper fourth season. Pretty please? "I've discovered a sixth sense located between Smell and Touch. I call it... Not quite sure I know what you mean by "it's had a bit of a tortured history", paulg, but I agree wholeheartedly that a Companion Chronicles style of release should only be a secondary range - the full cast audio dramas are still by far the best way to go for all the series that BF produce, IMHO.

Well, IIRC, Seasons 2 and 3 were touch and go for a while as whether they would even happen. And also, although my memory could be failing me here as well, there have been scripts fall through at the last minute/unexpectedly in both seasons 2 and 3 that have forced new stories to be written at extremely short notice (Second Sight being the most recent case in point). Still, it matters not. Season 4 is what we want! "I've discovered a sixth sense located between Smell and Touch. I call it... My memory is a bit hazy but Gary was down to write a story for Season 2 (Big... something?) but I think he got the DW/Torchwood gig at the Beeb and couldn't do it so we got the rather amazing Cruel Immortality instead. I'm sure someone at BF can enlighten us as to whether I'm telling the truth or just had a really convincing dream... "I've discovered a sixth sense located between Smell and Touch. I call it... Yes, and the 2nd season scrapped story title was "Big Fun".
If writing scripts at the last minute gives us another great story like "Second Sight" then they should do it more often!

I could listen to Sapphire do a Companion Chronicle style story easily... as well as Gattis back as Gold.

I think that there have been a couple of scripts that Nigel has had to write at short notice haven't there?

Yes. Cruel Immortality and Second Sight. And they were both bloody good too! "I've discovered a sixth sense located between Smell and Touch. I call it... Smuch." - Professor Nebulous Cadmium2 - The Podcast of Cult BritanniaCurrent Show (26.12.08) #37: Doctor Who - The Time Meddler
