I think it would mostly just be the prestige. I'm not even convinced we need to see the points, just the ranking would do. But I suppose it's a way for people to monitor their progress if they want.

Query: What are the point boundaries for ranks?
Fact: Master's Mate is from 1 to 10.
Additional Fact: Lieutenant is from 50 to 100 I think.
Additional Facts: There's also Lieutenant-Commander and Commander, which is what I am.
Query: Is the next one at 200?
