Its not a question, I just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to this release. The Fifth Doctor and Nyssa are one of my favourite pairings.

I was just wondering why a delay in shipments has also delayed subscriber downloads?

I love working with Peter and Sarah: they have such a wonderful rapport both in studio and out of it. Long may they continue. That's an interesting point, but not everyone who subscribes to Big Finish is in a position to download. Our current policy, as far as I understand it, is to release both CD and download simultaneously. This seems the fairest thing to do. We've discussed the possibility of releasing the downloads the moment they're ready (two-three weeks before the CD release), but our worry is that this will put off our CD subscribers, who are our lifeblood. After all, I can imagine it would be a bit galling to read forums discussing the ins and outs of a story you had to wait another fortnight to hear because you subscribed to the CD instead of the download. Ha, ha. Well, I'm not telling you anything about this story one way or the other. Suffice it to say, however, that Matthew Waterhouse lives in America and Big Finish doesn't run to plane tickets... You think someone might have sneaked in and changed it during the production process?

hi,
I mean that every time you get to listen to the finished product, there are always wonderful touches and surprises, and things you'd forgotten about, since the time of writing,

Wow - that was bonkers!!
A general question to Big Finish though - we get the Key 2 Time next year with Davison and a new companion, but will we hear anymore with him and Nyssa in 2009 - they are my favourite pairing too (Janet Fielding not counting), and it's felt a bit like been spoiled since Sarah Sutton agreed to drop her 'one audio a year' rule.

I love working with Sarah, too, so I sincerely hope we'll be seeing plenty more with her in. The Boy That Time Forgot is not their last outing to my certain knowledge... Just listened to this and enjoyed it a lot. Very clever basis for a story, although I never thought that I would see anything like it.

Just listened to it! Someone said it was bonkers and I think that's very apt, though in a good way. [spoiler space] If you just try to write a synopsis, it goes a bit crazy: "Whilst performing a block-computation seance to locate his missing TARDIS, the Doctor's unconscious mind nips off to save Adric from dying which causes a significant rupture in the flow of time and he, Nyssa and two other unfortunate souls are drawn into the past where Adric is a 500-year old ruler of a race of Scorpions (with a large pet spider) who hopes to make Nyssa his bride." As I said, nutty. But... you know... it works. It gets uncomfortable now and again. Adric's advances towards Nyssa were a bit hard to take. And it did feel at first that poor Adric was getting dusted off just to be ridiculed some more. But I think there was a certain deliberate playing around with expectations there because in the end Adric's old personality reasserts itself. Of course, because of this it sort of begs the question of what the POINT of it was. It leaves both Adric, The Doctor, and Nyssa at the same point they were, right? The Doctor feels guilt over Adric's death, Nyssa is sad he's dead and Adric is dead! He just took a little detour now. BUT... I do think there's a difference between his original death and his latter one. To me, Adric's death aboard the carrier–while shocking the first time I saw it to be sure–didn't do him any favors as a character. I mean to say that he died in a rather futile effort even if it was for good reasons. I suppose this death let him be more heroic and he directly was able to help Nyssa and the Doctor. And in a way it was a way for he and the Doctor to resolve some of the animosity that had arisen between them before his death. But, it wasn't to an extent that the Doctor's guilt wasn't totally alleviated so the Doctor's guilt over his death still made sense. I liked the two Victorian characters, though I couldn't help but find them a LITTLE ancillary. I understand they allowed us to be introduced to the more overt threat of the old scorpions while Nyssa and the Doctor were busy dealing with Adric, though. I did like them and was sad that one of them had to die. The one thing that I thought let the story down though was the ending. I thought it sort of tapered off as Nyssa and the Doctor SLOWLY realized what I think most listeners had realized instantly - that Adric had found the TARDIS. These scenes and the scene with Thomas and Adric seemed to stretch on for ages, partly because they were coming after the climax of the story. But all in all I really liked this one.
